While browsing heavily biased articles online, I found this article, which supposedly “proves” the US was founded as a christian nation.

There was not only a treaty signed, which said that “The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion”. There is also the fact that the first amendment contradicts the first commandment.

The first commandment says that “thou shalt have no other gods before me” (or similar throughout other translations), but the first amendment prohinits any law respecting an establishment of religion, which ensures there is no requirement of which religion.

If the article was correct, and that the US was founded as a Christian nation, then wouldn’t our first amendment not allow other religions? But, it does, quite explicitly in the bill of rights.

Some of my favorite lines from conservatives is that they adore the constitution, yet can’t see how people don’t accept Christianity. So, they favor the constitution, but dislike the effects of people following it?

What they mean to say is that they favor christians.
